We love living in Taupo, having moved here from Auckland in 1994. We built The Lakeview House in 2008 as our home, but also as a special place to welcome guests. Our aim was to create a retreat with a difference - offering you luxury accommodation, along with the options of fine dining, cooking classes and private functions.

 

We've been married for 35 years and with four grown-up children, lead an active life that includes extensive travel in New Zealand and overseas. We both enjoy welcoming new and old friends to our home in Acacia Bay.

 

A bit about Hugh...

With a background in adventure tourism and building, Hugh now runs a scaffolding company along with two of his sons. In his spare time, Hugh is an enthusiastic golfer - always happy to add a round to his day, as well as having an enduring passion for cars, skiing, tramping, sport and music.

 

Celia runs her landscape, design and event business Celia Laity Design, along with The Lakeview House. Celia has established a significant reputation as a food and style expert, having organised events and weddings and run cooking classes and home styling, floral and design workshops for many years around New Zealand and in the US.

 

Celia is a passionate cook and gardener and loves sharing her enthusiasm and knowledge with others, as well as the produce from The Lakeview House organic vegetable garden.
