Local Activities

Taupo is one of New Zealand's best destinations - there's loads to do whether you're looking for action or relaxtion.  Here are some of our personal favourites...

GREAT FOOD
  • Cafe L'Arte is just a 10 minute walk from The Lakeview House and serves great coffee and light food all set in gorgeous gardens featuring amazing mosaics and an art gallery.   Directions / Website
  • Cafe Sierra is a top spot in Taupo for coffee, a glass of wine and excellent bistro/cafe food.  Directions
  • Bistro Lago at the new Hilton Taupo is our pick for a top end meal. (And make sure you enjoy a walk around the Celia Laity-designed gardens!)  Website
TREAT YOURSELF
  • Taupo is famous for its hot springs, so a visit to DeBretts Thermal Springs is a must-do for young and old - there's nothing more invigorating and relaxing than a lovely soak in the hot mineral water. Directions / Website
  • A massage is always a treat - we have several local therapists who are happy to come to The Lakeview House.
ARTS & CRAFTS
  • Lava Glass incorporates a glass blowing studio (where you can see the artists in action), cafe and gallery. Website
  • ZeaYou has an extensive collection of contemporary New Zealand art. Website

THE BEAUTIFUL OUTDOORS
